Interesting feature in this Koi carp pond in Kōraku-en, a Japanese garden located in  Okayama, Okayama Prefecture. This photo was taken by Mark Fountain, who’s guess is that the purpose of the flat stones in the centre is to offer the Koi cooler (deeper) water and some shelter from the sun. Otherwise: a visual treat.
